Daring Cardmakers - 'Cards with a certain a-PEEL OFF', eeek!

It's been a while since I had chance to do the dare over at http://daringcardmakers.blogspot.com so as my lovely boss gave me the afternoon off, I thought I would join in again, and here it is:

"You can blame Keryn with her rather lovely cool colours dare last week (great cards all BTW!) for the inspiration for this week. I found that I needed to use a peel off and was quite pleased with the results and that got me thinking of a fiendish dare. At least it is for me (Lythan) who is often disparaging of the much maligned shiny sticker. But actually there are some really nice examples of the genre around now. And also people who can do all sorts of gorgeous things with peel off stickers that I would not have thought of. Are you one of them?
So go on, rummage around in your craft stash and
Make a card with Peel Offs"

Well, I fumbled about at the bottom of a box of unused stash and unearthed these white flower peel offs which I thought I may be able to bring myself to use. Now, I'm not a peel off snob, I have seen people do amazing things with peel offs, but they're just not my cup of tea.......I may have changed my mind though after using these.
Papers are Daisy Bucket, white flower peels offs stuck on Bazzil Bling and hand cut, paper flowers Making Memories, Tilda of course and a touch of glitter glue. Turned out much better than I could have hoped.

Tilda

I know she's been around a while now, but somehow I never get tired of using my Tilda stamps. I have used Basic Grey Two Scoops papers, Heidi Grace flowers and a new Imaginisce stamp for the sentiment, all available from http://charmedcardsandcrafts.co.uk I just love the colours of the Two Scoops papers and they all co-ordinate so well.

New Card....Tilda

I've been told off today for being a bad blogger. Some of the ladies at Happy Crafters were complaining so, just for you, (and you know who you are!!!) here is one of the many cards I have made recently, but not had time to upload.
Paper is We Are Memory Keepers, Scrapagogo scalloped dots stamp, Prima flower and Penny Black Polka Run stamp for the edges. Tilda with Teddy is coloured using Prismacolour pencils, and the sentiment is a Dovecraft stamp.

I'll try to keep more up to date 'cos I don't like being told off!

Cute Card Thursday - Birthday Card

Back again with another challenge card - this time for http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com where this week's challenge is simply to make a birthday card. The stamp is Penny Black, coloured with Prismacolour pencils, K&Co chip slider with paper ribbon.
It's been a crafting marathon this weekend and I have loved every minute. Off to bed now before I pick those Prismas up again!

Magnolia Challenge

I've been having a play with some of my Tilda stamps today and my new Prismacolour pencils so I decided to play along with the challenge at http://magnoliachallengeblog.blogspot.com/ which is a first for me. The challenge is to use dots on your card, so I punched a scalloped circle and then used my Crop-a-dile to punch holes in the scallops. I placed this behind a piece of green cardstock to show through. Cardstock is DCWV Nana's Kids.

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Hot Hot Hot! and DT Card

This card was made for two reasons - it is my DT card for the Sunday Challenge on http://dotties-wonderful-world.blogspot.com and this week's challenge on http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com which has to be up at the top of my favourites too! Cardstock is K&Co Urban and the fabulous new Seagrass (the embossed green), flowers from Prima and of course featuring the beautiful Dottie. She is looking very exotic and HOT! today.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Thought it was about time I popped in to show what I've been up to. Well, apart from my DT work over at http://dotties-wonderful-world.blogspot.com , fulfilling zillions of orders at work and a few of my own, I have been creating my CJ for the 'Happy Crafters' group where I teach on Thursday mornings. I have chosen 'My Favourite Poems' for my theme - my friend Shell on the http://charmedcardsandcrafts.co.uk forum chose this for our last CJ and I really enjoyed it and wanted one of my own! So I wave bye-bye to this next Thursday for a few months, sob, sob.

Most of the products used are either Basic Grey or K&Co with a sprinkling of Maya Road, Herbanella and Prima. This will be the first CJ the ladies have taken part in and I know they will love it. Just hope I don't have to give out too many detentions ladies if you are reading this, lol!!!

Papertake Weekly Challenge Sketch

This week we have another of Katharina's fabulous sketches to work with over at http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com with an option to use chipboard. I love working with sketches and this one uses Imaginisce, Paper Adventures and K&Co Sea Glass papers, Prima flowers, K&Co Berry Sweet chipboard heart with ribbon and brads from stash. Edges inked with Versacolour Bamboo and unusually for me, no doodling!
I am all crafted out now for today, having made five A4 cards which are orders for work, four Father's Day cards, a 2 year old girl's Birthday card and I completed a double layout in a CJ - and in this heat!!
Off for a lie down now, lol.

Is it really Sunday already?

It's been one of those weeks when I have taken one step forward and two steps back. Thank goodness I have Monday off work to catch up.........I need to make 18 cards for orders and family birthdays, YIKES!

I can now show the rest of the card from the 'sneaky peak' which is for the Sunday Challenge on Dottie's World http://www.dotties-wonderful-world.blogspot.com/ , simply to make a card using both stripes and stitching, and of course images from Louise's collections. There are some fabulous DT examples and these are my two. DARING CARDMAKERS 'LITTLE EXTRA'

This week's 'Little Extra' over at http://daringcardmakers.blogspot.com is to use coral or jade on your card, and I decided to go for that 'minimalist' look again for a change. Paper is from Retro Floral Papermania pad, the image is a Studio G stamp and I coloured with watercolour pencils and waterbrush.

Dotties World, Papertake Weekly and more!

The first news of the day is over at Dottie's World http://dotties-wonderful-world.blogspot.com/ where Louise has got the devil in her. Tonight at 7pm she is announcing the first winner of an exlusive Dottie image and she won't even tell her DT who's won - she's such a tease!

This is my entry for the Papertake Weekly Challenge http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com/ to use die-cuts on your card. Well, I have been 'dying' (geddit?) to use these Basic Grey Archaic papers for ages and thought this was the perfect opportunity. I mounted the dinosaur and star onto Bazzil card and cut round the shape, and the brads have a sequin behind them - a happy accident!

This layout was made using the new Prima Paintables 12x12 papers from http://charmedcardsandcrafts.co.uk/ and I really enjoyed using this. The photos are from my garden (before the wind and rain!) and I watercoloured the frames, leaves and flower using Whispers pens. Flowers are Prima and rub-ons are Making Memories.

Dottie's World and more.....

Here is the first card for my Design Team work on Dottie's World and this is based on a sketch set this week by Karen, for the Sunday Challenge. The scalloped edge is created by punching circles, as you can see, papers are from the K&Co Berry Sweet 12x12 Speciality Pad and every single one of them is absolutely stunning (available from http://charmedcardsandcrafts.co.uk ). Brads, buttons and ribbon from stash, lots of inky edges and a dose of doodling.

This card was made for a special lady who has a 'thing' about sheep! The stamps I bought ages ago and I did my usual thing and threw away the packaging without making a note of the maker, papers are Basic Grey and it is coloured with Whispers pens and watercolour brush.Another card using one of the gorgeous stamps I won on Papertake Weekly http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com/ again coloured with Whispers.

Dottie's World

I am absolutely thrilled to bits - Louise, Nicola and Karen have invited me to be a member of the Design Team for 'Dottie's World'. Well, of course I said YES PLEASE!!! I am sure many of you will already have been introduced to Dottie and George (and some of Lou's other fabulous work), but you are always very welcome to pay a visit to the 'Dottie's World' Blog by clicking on the link on the top right to see some stunning creations. Here is a 'Cheerleader Dottie' card, complete with pom poms, which I made a couple of weeks ago for Angela, one of our PE teachers who was leaving school. It is A4 in size (to take about 100 greetings!!) and Dotties dress and shoes are paper pieced.

This card is for this week's Daring Cardmakers Challenge http://daringcardmakers.blogspot.com which is to make a shaped card.....

'The Design Team have been busy working on this weeks dare ' It's all in the Shape' set by me. I'm a fan of shaped cards so thought this was a great one to do for my first dare. You can do any theme but your card has to be a shape of some sort.'I don't think I have ever done a shaped card before, but this image lends itself perfectly to the challenge. Another of Louise's designs, which can also be downloaded from http://charmedcardsandcrafts.co.uk I resized the image in word and printed it out on the right hand side of a landscape page so the fold is on the back of the blue cat. I used shimmer watercolour paints from The Works, a few gems and a rub-on sentiment on the paper pieced heart.

DARING CARDMAKERS....They've got their beady eyes on us!

The dare from http://daringcardmakers.blogspot.com is to use beads somewhere on your card. Papers are Basic Grey, flowers are stamped, coloured with shimmer watercolour paints from The Works then black bugle beads and PM gems added. The sentiment and stems are also stamped. Lots of inky edges, some doodling and a bit of ribbon and that's it!

Happy Bank Holiday!

First today is an A4 for Fran who is leaving work soon. My first use of the new K & Co Berry Sweet speciality pad, (and the little bird) which is really scrummy. Prima and Imaginisce flowers, rub-0ns The Scrapbook House and the flowers and butterflies are highlighted with glitter glue.

This card is for the Papertake Weekly Challenge - here http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com to make a man's card. I've used the 'racing driver' George here but today he's being an astronaut! His astronaut suit is coloured in silver and I added an acrylic bubble to his helmet. Heidi Swapp ghost arrow and sentiment from Scrapagogo kit.

Playing Catch Up!!!

Well, I haven't been completely idle, although I've been a very bad blogger!
Last weekend I went to the Make-it Show at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton and managed to pick up some different things and at bargain prices. The first card is made with papers which came in themed stacks and they are so pretty and only £1 a stack! I must make notes of suppliers - usually in my excitement to open everything I throw the packaging away. Three papers from the stack are used here and some of the boats are layered. A bit of stickles to highlight the waves and it looks really effective. This card was made using the Sketch Challenge #6 on http://charmedcardsandcrafts.co.uk/ and is made with one sheet of double sided Crate Paper, hand stitching, Prima flowers and rub-ons.
This wall hanging is also a challenge on http://charmedcardsandcrafts.co.uk/ - not to use pink, people, pets or bling. I used some of the same papers as the card above and used crackle paint on the plaque to give a driftwood effect. The bar on which the frames hang is a stirrer from Starbucks painted with Adirondack Denim acrylic paint. Lettering is Ellison Chunkadelic which I mounted on chipboard and hand cut - ouch! All held together with garden twine.
Speaking of gardens, just to show some of the work I've been doing and much harder than crafting!
This is my debut 12x12 to go public and was also for a challenge on http://charmedcardsandcrafts.co.uk/ (I'm not on commission, honest!!!) and again not to use pink, people, pets or bling. I photographed the daisies in my garden and came up with this - 'Nature's Perfection'. I added to the distressed look of the paper with brown and white chalk inkpads, the butterfly stamp was in a half price set at Make-it and I got loads of ric-rak ribbon at 25p a metre!

Papertake Weekly Challenge Sketch

There's a fabulous sketch over at http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com and I couldn't resist giving it a go. Papers are from DCWV Nursery Baby Girl stack and they all co-ordinate so wonderfully. The stamp is one of the two which I won for the challenge a few weeks ago and is stamped in charcoal for a softer effect and coloured with Whispers pens and waterbrush. Sentiment is a rub-on and the glitter chip flower and velvet ribbon is from stash. I inked all the edges with VersaColor #69 Bamboo and added a bit of doodling.
I know it's been ages since I blogged but I've been so busy as well as injuring my right hand and having 7 stitches in it. That put paid to crafting, but much better now!
TIP......Always wear gloves when gardening :-(
